Is a 14-year-old allowed to have this? Or perhaps half of it?
On 11 november 2024 by Customer serviceThe recommended daily amount of zinc for a 14-year-old is 9 mg for girls and 11 mg for boys. The Solgar supplement contains 22 mg of zinc per tablet, which is significantly more than the recommended daily amount for teenagers.
It's generally safe to exceed the recommended amount by a small margin, but too much zinc can cause side effects like nausea and diarrhoea. Therefore, we recommend choosing a supplement with a lower zinc dosage for teenagers.
We also have multivitamins specially designed for teenagers in our range. For example, the Vitaminstore Teen Multi contains 12 mg of zinc per dose.

Is it true that Zinc picolinate is better absorbed than Zinc citrate? Which type do you recommend, and what exactly is the difference in absorption between these two types? I am 64, so perhaps age also plays a role here?
On 31 march 2025 by Customer serviceBoth zinc picolinate and zinc citrate are well absorbed. However, the most absorbable zinc compounds are those where zinc is bound to an amino acid. The body considers these compounds as naturally occurring, and zinc is also found in this form in food. Examples of these highly absorbable compounds are zinc bisglycinate and zinc methionine.
