Orthomolecular therapy

The orthomolecular approach to nutrition aims to enhance health by providing the body's cells, the fundamental building blocks of the organism, with optimal amounts of vitamins, minerals, and other essential nutrients. The term orthomolecular is derived from the words orthos, meaning "correct" or "right", and molecular, which refers to "a composition of molecules". Hence, orthomolecular signifies: the correct molecular environment or optimal biochemical milieu.

The orthomolecular approach to nutrition flourished in the 1950s, thanks to groundbreaking research by figures such as Linus Pauling (who coined the term 'orthomolecular') and psychiatrists Humphry Osmond and Abram Hoffer.

Well-known producers of orthomolecular dietary supplements include Solgar, Orthica, Vitals, AOV, and of course Vitaminstore itself.
