Eleutherococcus senticosus is not actually a member of the Panax ginseng family, but it is often referred to as "Russian ginseng" or "Siberian ginseng" because the adaptogenic and revitalising properties of this herb closely resemble those of true ginseng.

Sometimes, individuals may have an increased sensitivity to Panax ginseng. If that is the case, Eleutherococcus can be a good alternative.
