Dietary fibre: an essential part of our diet
A typical Western diet is known for being relatively low in fibre. Dietary fibres are carbohydrates that humans cannot digest, and which cannot be broken down by digestive enzymes in the small intestine. Instead, they are (partly) fermented (‘eaten’ and converted) by bacteria in the large intestine. In a way, they are the food for these indispensable micro-organisms. A sufficiently high intake of these fermentable fibres is therefore important.

Dietary fibre is naturally found in, among other things, vegetables, fruit, wholegrains and pulses. Nutritional guidelines indicate that 30 or even 40 grams of fibre per day is recommended. Unfortunately, the average fibre intake among adults is only around 20 grams per day. There is certainly room for improvement. One way to increase fibre intake is to use a fibre supplement as an addition to a healthy and varied diet. os®: innovative, upcycled fibre from carrot pulp
os® is an innovative ingredient consisting of a special carrot fibre called rhamnogalacturonan-I (RG-I). The Dutch company NutriLeads has developed a patented production process that releases this fibre from the cell walls of carrots. The raw material used is carrot pulp, which remains as a by-product of producing carrot juice made in Europe. This makes os® a sustainable product. In collaboration with Wageningen University and Amsterdam UMC, several studies have been conducted confirming the benefits of this so-called precision fibre.

Inavea™ baobab and acacia fibre: stronger together
Acacia gum (also known as gum arabic) is secreted by the bark of the Acacia seyal tree. It is similar to a resin, except that a gum is water-soluble and edible, unlike a resin. Acacia gum is naturally very rich in dietary fibre and suitable for various applications in food products. Producer Nexira is the absolute expert in acacia gum, with decades of experience in cultivating, harvesting and processing it. The entire production chain is managed in-house, which offers many advantages. The company places great importance on sustainability and social enterprise. No pesticides are used when growing the trees. The harvesting and processing of the gum is also carried out in a sustainable way.

The acacia fibres in Ultimate Fibre Blend are blended by Nexira with baobab fibres. The fruit of the famous African baobab (also known as the ‘tree of life’) is also a rich source of dietary fibre. These two fibre types complement each other perfectly. This means a smaller amount is sufficient than would be needed if the two fibres were used separately.

Sunfiber®: tried-and-tested fibre from guar beans
The guar plant (Cyamopsis tetragonoloba) is cultivated in several parts of India, even in areas where severe drought occurs. The beans and leaves of this plant have been part of the Indian diet for thousands of years. Guar beans are a rich source of soluble, fermentable fibres. Sunfiber® is the brand name for guar bean fibres that, through the use of a natural fermentation process, gain their superior user-friendly properties, such as excellent solubility in water. Guar bean fibre is one of the fibre types most commonly used in scientific research. It therefore simply has to be included in this Ultimate Fibre Blend.

Ingredients
Fermented guar bean fibres (from Indian guar beans, Cyamopsis tetragonoloba, seed), baobab fibres (from Adansonia digitata, fruit), acacia fibres (from Acacia seyal, gum), carrot fibres (from Daucus carota subsp. sativus, root), maltodextrin.

Take 1 level scoop (10.85 grams) daily with a meal. Mix with water (approx. 200 ml) or another liquid. The fibres may also be added to (hot or cold) food if desired. Do not exceed the recommended dosage.
